The binder helps your child’s movements

Updated: Aug 21

We talked about the abdominal binder in our previous post and how it helps, not only support your child’s torso but strengthen it.

Now, let’s talk about how it helps your child’s movements.

When you offer support to your child’s torso, you are improving the stability required to develop coordinated movements with the hands.

If the child doesn’t have enough control and stability in the torso, the tendency will be to increase the tone of the arms and or the legs to hold themselves. If the child needs to use the tone to stabilize the torso, it is harder for them to have refined hand movements.

When your child wears the binder, it automatically improves the tensional stability that is needed and they can relax the arms and use them with more control.

This is why we recommend wearing the binder while your child is working on fine motor skills.

Watch this short video (taken from our monthly Facebook Live) where we are sharing a bit more about the binder.

WeFlow´s tip for you!

Wrapping your child’s abdomen with WeFlow’s binder or with an abdominal support will help them develop more accurate fine motor skills.
