Are you using vibration?

Updated: Aug 21

Are you using vibration to help your child?

There are many ways to use vibration and it usually brings many benefits to the child with cerebral palsy.

We’ve been using different kinds of vibrations with our kids from the plates, vibrating balls, commercial massagers and tuning forks.

Fascia is viscoelastic and its viscosity changes with vibration and heat. We explored these concepts during one of our Facebook lives and also shared some of precautions you should have while using vibration with your child.

You can watch part of it here.

In summary, vibration facilitates how the fluids move inside the body, that is the main reason why we like it. Many parents are using vibration with their children with a different rationale. We believe we all should be aware the following:

  • While vibrating, the tissues behave differently and we don’t like to stretch to the end range while vibrating, as it would probably go beyond the physiological range resulting in more weakening of the fascial system (read more about this here)

  • From the sensory integration perspective, some kids are more sensitive to vibration, so we have to be careful not to disorganize them even more.

  • We can not take for granted that the vibration effects will travel properly if your child’s fascia is not balanced, that is why we like to wrap and support the child while on the plate.

We offer individual consultations about how to best use the vibration plates, implementing the key concepts behind WeFlow. You can book yours here.

Here you have some examples on how we “weflowised” the usages of the plate.
