About Us
When facing Cerebral Palsy and other challenges, we believe that the quality of life comes first.
We believe the body has its own way to recover and develop and no matter how rough the path is, we can always enjoy the ride.
-
The body is a unity and Fascia holds it together.
-
The body works as a tensegrity, where proper tension between the structures is crucial.
-
The rhythms and fluids flow within the body pace its growth and development.
-
Proper tension of the fascial system is essential to sustain the posture and to allow controlled movement.
-
After brain damage, the fascia weakens and collapses. So does the muscular-skeletal structure that loses its organization.
-
When the fluids flow is restricted, the mechanisms to nourish the tissues and cells and to carry away waste material is compromised.
-
Fascia can be remodelled and strengthened using soft and passive techniques.
-
Fluid's flow can be restored and with it, the tissues become healthier.
Mariana Barreto
PT_DO (MP)
Founder & Director
Mariana began her journey involved with Cerebral Palsy population volunteering when she was 13 years old, and inspired by that experience, she became a Physical Therapist. She started her career in an early intervention department, with high-risk infants and premature babies. In 1999, she joinned the professional team of the first Latin-American 3D gait laboratory, where she analyzed hundreds of individuals with pathological gait (mainly cerebral palsy.) She aided the surgical decision team and took care of the post-surgical rehabilitation process in a renowned Paediatric Orthopedic Hospital in Venezuela.
In 2002, she was certified in Neurodevelopmental Treatment for Cerebral Palsy (NDT/Bobath) and worked for 8 years under this approach, teaming up with Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Pediatric Psychologists and Special Education Teachers.
In Canada, she worked for 6 years for Leonid Bluym's ABR Americas (Advanced Biomechanical Rehabilitation) an alternative therapeutic approach to Cerebral Palsy Therapy that focuses on the remodeling of the connective tissue. Her recent exposure to the Fascia concept made her pursue a deeper understanding of it, so she became a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner and a Craniosacral Therapist.
Mariana founded WeFlow Therapy in early 2017, dreaming about the possibilities of helping families and children around the world, empowering them with tools and strategies and most importantly, trusting the potential each child has. With a caring and gentle approach, she shares hope and effectively helps parents help their children with cerebral palsy go beyond expectations.
Daiana Baskovich
B. Cs Kinesiology & Physiatry, DO
Therapist
Daiana began her professional career in Rosario, Argentina as an intern in pediatric institutions working in neurodevelopmental departments with infants and adults. For 3 years, she worked as a therapist with children with Cerebral Palsy delivering home treatments.
Since her university beginnings, Daiana always had a preference for manual therapy approaches. This tendency marked her professional style and led her to deepen her knowledge in osteopathy and manual techniques, completing the 5-year post-graduate program offered by the International Osteopathic School of Madrid.
For more than 10 years, she was part of the professional team of ABR (Advanced Biomechanical Rehabilitation) a therapeutic approach that focuses on the remodeling of the connective tissue in children with Cerebral Palsy. She traveled to different countries in America (Canada, USA, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Chile and Argentina) to train parents of kids with Cerebral Palsy under this approach. It was during this term when she met Mariana and they shared years of work and training sesions together. In spite of the distance (Canada-Argentina) their professional connection was always very strong and based on the foundations of support, empathy and fellowship.
In WeFlow Therapy, Daiana and Mariana join their passions, knowledge, studies and experiences towards a common goal of accompanying each family along the journey of finding the best way to boost the development of their children.
